THE SLIPPING NYMPH

Julie Scharf and I had already worked together once before to create a portfolio of her incredible collection of clothes in 2020. When she reached out to me in July and asked if I could do a one day shoot for a project she and Robb Lewis were planning to submit to the 2023 Prague Quadrennial, I was already there.

The photos below were meant to emulate the fairytale illustrations of Harry Clarke and his contemporaries. The clothes and story were both created by Julie. Her tale follows a young nymph named Dagan who bargains with the powers of nature to change their fate. In many ways it is an allagory for the gender queer experience. The piece has been excepted and will be in the Prague Quadrennial this coming summer.
